It focuses on the constructions scheinen ‘seem’, drohen ‘threaten’, versprechen ‘promise’+ zu-infinitive, and werden ‘become’ + infinitive. The main idea is that with the diachronic development of these constructions we are witnessing the genesis of a new grammatical category in German.
